In January, Valley Art Center will mount its second Identity exhibit. A cheerful cottage, a lonely cloud, an angry surf, a castle brooding on a cliff, we use personification regularly to ascribe emotion and feelings to scenes and environments, giving them identity and context. For this exhibit, 2D and 3D artists are invited to submit art exploring the concept of identity in PLACES. Artists may interpret the exhibit's theme in their own terms and may approach this call through any media and style. For this exhibit, all work entered must be for sale.

Entry Fee: $15 per piece, up to three (3) pieces per artist

What you will need

  • One digital image of each art piece, up to three submissions. These must be good photographs of the actual, original art work you want to enter to potentially exhibit.
  • Digital images must be saved in the JPG (JPEG) file format.
  • Your pictures should be no smaller than 960 pixels and no larger than 4600 pixels on the longest side.
  • They should be no bigger than 4 Mb in file size.
  • Please make sure you are settled on titles, medium descriptions and prices. The way you identify yourself and your work in the submission form is what we start with when we present your information on art labels and in program listings.

Entering artwork submissions
After logging in or creating a new account, you will Add a new submission. You will fill out the form with Category, Title, Dimensions (height, width, and depth), Sale price (all work entered must be for sale for this exhibit), and Medium for your first artwork submission. You will then pay your entry fee and upload an Attachment that is the photo of your artwork. If you would like to enter more than one work of art, please upload and pay for each entry separately.

    • Notification of jury results, January 8. Please do not call or email VAC for results.
  • Artwork Delivery
    • Shipping—please plan for shipped art to arrive the week of January 14, 2019 or earlier
    • Thursday drop off, January 10, 4–6 p.m.
    • Friday drop off, January 11, 8–10 a.m.
    • Saturday drop off, January 12, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
  • Event Dates
    • Exhibit opens, January 25, 2019
    • Artist reception, January 25, 6–8 p.m.
    • VIP donor event, February 8, 6–8 p.m.
    • Exhibit closes, March 6, 2019
  • Artwork pick up
    • Return shipping, ASAP after close of exhibit
